People need food, water, homes, roads, communities.

In this modern age, those communities are interconnected.  They
need hardware, software, and honest men and women building honest
tools for them to use, not spyware, not OSes leading them to the
cloud, but only enabling them to go there /IF/ they wish.

We owe people our best.

And for me, that realization comes from God, from His wishes for
us to first give Him our best, which means we give each other our
best too ... for Him.

Computer is a tool/toy. System programming is a way to make a tool work. or a tool within a tool, computer. Man uses tool to extend its capabilities. Capabilities of survival, capabilities of our senses, capabilities of our hand and foot, capabilities of our brain...

System programming is with equal importance to the tool that we used day to day.

When you go to build a house, do you just throw together a quick
foundation?  If things aren't level, straight, true, do you just
go ahead and build up anyway?

Your foundations must be solid.  Your fundamental buildings must
be straight and true.  The things you establish down at the lowest
levels must all be solid and proper, so that everything built atop
those levels will have solid foundations, allowing them to also be
solid (if they also are otherwise).

When you go to build a house, do you just throw together a quick

go ahead and build up anyway?

Your foundations must be solid.  Your fundamental buildings must
be straight and true.  The things you establish down at the lowest
levels must all be solid and proper, so that everything built atop
those levels will have solid foundations, allowing them to also be
solid (if they also are otherwise).

Agreed.  Free and open is the only way.  Light is often the best
