I dunno, I think it's just mirrored, which is mechanically possible, but opposite of what one might be used to. I'm not gonna call it counter-clockwise, though, because, well.. you know. Assuming the time is 1:42, it's self-consistent: hour hand is just about 2/3 the way from 1 to 2. (There was a clock in one film, that wasn't numbered, but by relative positions of the number-placeholders and hour/minute hands, it was obviously 1/4 turned, so that 6 or 12 were on the sides, and 3 or 9 were on the top/bottom) I also like that what looks like a window, over the sink, could well be a painting. The light on the book-user's face is coming from one direction (presumably, that's the outdoors) vacuum-user's face is coming from the other direction, but there could be another light source thence. As for gender roles, we don't know what their genders are, or that anyone there doesn't like the role they're in. The thing that stood out to me most, was that the vacuum-user's shoes are not well suited for vacuuming. I also noticed the book-user's shoes: one slipper, one dressy boot. I thought it might be a sock on the book-user's slipper-wearing leg, but because that jean-pant is rolled up, too,
 I suspect, that the book-user usually wears dressy boots, but had to have some sort of cream applied to that leg, for which the pant-leg is rolled-up and a slipper is worn, to provide more air to the creamed leg while allowing some ease of motion just-in-case. Of course, that sink is nuts.
