Which is just another way of saying: we look at all files on
your computer. Maybe the is good, but still pretty
invasive.

Thanks for the links.

Another reason to keep your tor/i2p/freenet box under your control. No
clearnet access at all.

From this site:
https://www.google.com/about/unwanted-software-policy.html

I found the criteria that google uses to declare a software
"unwanted":

It is deceptive, promising a value proposition that it
does not meet.
It tries to trick users into installing it or it
piggybacks on the installation of another program.
It doesn't tell the user about all of its principal and
significant functions.
It affects the user's system in unexpected ways.
    It is difficult to remove.
It collects or transmits private information without the
user's knowledge.
It is bundled with other software and its presence is
not disclosed.

Sounds like this scanning feature to me...

I wish that was true!  It is all bull.  They can't even
detect in real-time malware on their Chrome OS machines.  It
takes them sometimes 3 days or longer on subscription
machines (that long when you are a paying customer?).

I just tried to revert a Chrome OS machine from paid to free
(which the bot told me is possible) and the darn thing could
not do it.  I had to hack the BIOS and convert to another
OS.

I had to hack the BIOS and convert to another OS.

also my last attempt to install linux on a box with this
bios safety checksum bullshit turned on.
