Levar Arrington calls Micah the "best player in
the draft overall", but starts off by saying "early
signs indicate Micah Parsons being an absolute
game wrecker."

That's good to hear.

Well, underneath "you never know 'til you know"
heading, I didn't know that youtube provides an
automatic transcript with its videos. The following
is a transcript of the Micah Parsons video.

There is no punctuation or capitalization; I've cor-
rected the mistakes in the auto-transcript [& I've
corrected a mistake a commentator made in an
insertion within brackets]:

early signs indicate micah parsons being
00:03
an absolute
00:04
game wrecker for the cowboys the former
00:06
penn state standout is already showing
00:08
off his versatility and training camp
00:10
as he's lining up at various linebacker
00:12
positions as well as
00:14
showing off his pass rushing skills
00:16
parsons has the attention of mike
00:17
mccarthy
00:18
who described his young defensive stud
00:21
as unique
00:22
levar is your guy parsons the key to
00:25
turning around the cowboys defense
00:27
he's he's a major part to to the
00:30
ingredients
00:31
of making the key that does unlock the
00:33
potential of what the
00:34
the cowboys can be listen i said this
00:37
coming into the draft
00:38
when he was coming out everybody asked
00:40
me what what who is michael parsons
00:43
what what is he what what can he do what
00:45
can he be
00:46
i thought he was the best player in the
00:48
draft overall
00:50
not because of my connection in relation
00:52
to him because i know what his
00:53
capabilities are i said this i made a
00:56
bold proclamation on the show yesterday
00:58
and i saw a couple people picked up on
01:00
it
01:00
i said it's the best football player
01:02
i've seen since i played with sean
01:04
taylor that's the first
01:05
he's the first kid i've seen young man
01:08
that i've seen
01:09
to the level of what he's capable of
01:11
doing
01:12
from the position that he plays that if
01:15
it made me draw comparisons like who do
01:18
i compare him to who does
01:19
he remind me of what he's capable of
01:22
doing and it was sean taylor
01:24
reason why it's like sean plays safety
01:26
micah plays linebacker
01:28
but when you think about the things that
01:30
sean taylor was able to do
01:31
sean taylor could play safety both
01:33
safety positions both strong
01:35
and free he can cover like a free he can
01:38
hit you
01:38
like a bag of bricks like a strong he
01:40
can get in the box like a strong
01:42
and play like a linebacker or he can get
01:45
out and play coverage he can do all of
01:46
those things
01:47
he was so versatile he was sidelined the
01:49
sideline when you look at michael
01:51
parsons and what his skill sets are and
01:53
what his strengths are and what he's
01:54
capable of doing
01:55
it's the same exact thing except it's
01:57
the level it's the level up
01:59
and one more level forward at the
02:01
linebacking position he can play all
02:03
three linebacking
02:04
spots he can play on the inside which
02:06
means that he can play
02:07
inside the tackles make plays with
02:10
guards make plays against centers he can
02:12
get to the ball carrier
02:14
and he is one of the best at navigating
02:16
and dis
02:17
disengaging blockers he's also able to
02:20
get sideline the sideline so if you
02:22
think about like guys like a brian
02:24
urlacher
02:25
who has the ability to be able to run
02:26
from sideline to sideline from the
02:28
the inside of the defense he can do all
02:31
of those things
02:32
at a pro bowl you know all-pro level if
02:35
you put him on the outsides
02:37
you know strong side can you set an edge
02:40
can you be a three down backer at the
02:42
strong side it's a different game than
02:44
the weak side
02:45
weak side guys it's more pass oriented
02:47
it's more off the ball it's more play
02:49
the run he can do that he's quick enough
02:51
he's fast enough
02:52
his his his decisiveness and being able
02:55
to
02:55
diagnose plays his ability to to
02:59
antidote is it's just it's a it's he's a
03:02
different
03:02
dude he can cover man to man he can do
03:05
all those things he can play on a tight
03:07
end man to man he can do
03:09
what a strong side backer does which is
03:11
more dirty work of the defense it's more
03:13
almost like an interior lineman a
03:15
defensive end added to your defense
03:18
but he can run as a defensive end you
03:20
can you can actually the kid was
03:22
actually
03:23
a defensive end in high school he had to
03:26
transition
03:27
out of being a defensive end and move to
03:30
a linebacker
03:31
a lot of what we saw from pitt state
03:33
linebacking micah parsons
03:35
was even watered down because they
03:37
probably couldn't figure out
03:38
how exactly to use him this is going to
03:41
be the biggest key for
03:43
for mccarthy and for quinn and quinn has
03:45
admitted it as much
03:47
how do you use micah parsons you you
03:50
have
03:50
a strong linebacking core you have a
03:53
really really strong defensive front as
03:55
well that that's coming together
03:57
how do you use micah parsons exactly if
04:00
they crack the code on where to use him
04:03
and at the times to use him you should
04:05
see
04:06
a really really special special player
04:10
a generational player on the defensive
04:12
side of the ball so a major key
04:14
ingredient
04:15
to if the dallas cowboys will have
04:17
success this year
04:19
as a rookie look i like the kid i like
04:23
the kid a lot i don't think it's
04:24
possible to like him as much as levar
04:26
does
04:27
but but i do like him all right i think
04:29
that the county boys hit at least a
04:31
triple
04:32
they they hit a triple with this we'll
04:34
see if it turns into a home run but this
04:36
was a good draft pick
04:37
you mentioned everything he can do i
04:39
mean he's versatile
04:41
he's his size six four 250 he's got four
04:44
three four four speed do you understand
04:47
how he's crazy
04:48
that he runs a four three four right
04:51
that's incredibly
04:53
coming out of college the dude
04:57
the dude has all the ability to get it
05:00
done
05:01
saying he is the key is an overstatement
05:04
that's going too far
05:05
but i think he as you said lavar he's
05:07
one of the keys
05:09
i think dan quinn is a key all right i
05:11
know he's the defensive coordinator he
05:13
won't be out there on the field
05:15
but he's the key dallas had the four
05:17
years before mike nolan took over
05:20
they were in the top third of the league
05:22
defensively
05:23
and a few times they were in the top 10
05:25
close to the top five
05:26
and nolan comes in and complicates
05:29
things
05:30
and they fall off so i think quinn
05:32
coming back
05:33
is a bit or you know coming to dallas
05:36
he's a great defensive coordinator
05:38
i think that's big i think the other
05:40
linebackers leighton van der esh i've
05:42
mentioned
05:43
he's playing for a contract i think
05:45
that's going to be big
05:46
i think he'll be able to stay healthy
05:49
somehow guys have a
05:50
way of staying healthy at times when
05:53
they're playing for a contract
05:54
all right jalen smith need i need a good
05:57
year out of him
05:58
demarcus lawrence i need him to turn
06:00
back the clock
06:01
when two years ago he was he was a pro
06:04
bowler
06:04
i need him to get back to that level
06:06
which he hadn't played at
06:08
the last couple of years treyvon diggs i
06:11
think i'm expecting a big jump
06:13
from him in this second season to really
06:16
shore up that secondary so
06:18
there are a lot of keys to this defense
06:21
succeeding
06:22
micah parks is one of them but it's
06:25
going to take much more than him
06:26
to make this defense what they need it
06:28
to be yeah as good as parsons is
06:30
it's tough to put an entire burden on a
06:33
22 year old
06:34
rookie i'm sure he's going to be great
06:35
but sorry he's not one of the top three
06:37
guys
06:38
that's needed to perform on this defense
06:40
oh yeah i think you guys missed this
06:41
okay i know you guys don't love the
06:43
numbers pro football focus
06:45
has the cowboys secondary ranked 31st
06:48
in the league okay they were a tire fire
06:51
last year in the secondary and
06:53
part of it is because they can't get to
06:54
the quarterback other than lawrence they
06:56
got nobody to rush to pass her
06:57
and what does jerry do he didn't get to
06:59
the quarterback we're gonna get aldon
07:01
smith

Arrington is strange. He speaks well and sounds intelligent.
However, he says a lot of stuff I find crazy. Maybe that means
he is right and I am crazy.

A segment or two later in that show they talk about PFF's power
rankings, and he says that the Saints are too low and should maybe be in
the top 5. ???

https://twitter.com/lavararrington
Look for "Why have the Packers at 5 when they've shown repeatedly they
can make it to the game before the Super Bowl"

I'm expecting to see the Saints flounder as a result of the cap
shenannigans done to try to win a SB with Brees finally coming due.

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-power-rankings-for-the-2021-nfl-season
What a crazy list. They have the Falcons at 18 while still giving ATL
a 4% chance to win the SB. They're not even aiming for consistent.
