How many times so far has the fastest lap gone without being a point scorer?

I don't recall seeing it happen before, but I may well be wrong!

Nobody has bothered going for it without knowing they had a good chance of getting in the points
before (ttbomk). This was just sour grapes on Horner's part and imo the rules need to be changed to
stop this happening (to fastest lap in the top 10 or similar). You should only be able to *gain*
points for yourself, not *deny* others points.

No, good championship tactics. Pérez had just gotten up to 10th with 5
laps to go and a 10 second gap to 9th: 1 point maximum*. He was called
in to take fastest lap and finished 16th.

Finishing 10th, with Hamilton taking fastest lap point, and finishing
16th, with Hamilton not taking fastest lap point, is a wash for the
constructors' championship (assuming that's a 2-horse race). What was
actually done means Max has one point of additional lead in the drivers'
championship. (Pérez has one fewer point but that counts for nothing in
RB's calculus.)

Yes, he started on hards, changed to mediums on lap 18 (surprisingly
early), pitted again on lap 38, and then finally on lap 48 for the
fastest lap sprint.

All true and I was aware of the calculations and permutations when I wrote the above opinion. I
still think it's unsporting to *take* a point from a competitor (without getting it yourself). Yeah
I know, it's not a sport it's a business. That doesn't mean I have to like that part of it.

It's down to the regs; don't blame the team for acting in their best
interests. They could easily change the rule. I have never liked it in
F2 and was surprised it worked that way. Imagine that such cynical
behaviour won either championship... imagine it happened during the
final race?
