One thing that he points out - during the Qualifying Session the list
of top speeds through the Speed Trap was topped by HAM with 330.7kph,
while VER was slowest with 320.9kph. The Trap is located at the end
of Hangar Straight, before the braking point.

<https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/2021_10_gbr_f1_q0_timing_qualifyingsessionmaximumspeeds_v01.pdf>

Note: That was during Qually, not the Sprint Race. Similar data was
not published for the Sprint Race.

During the race, Perez, whose setup was changed for the race, topped
the speeds with 340.4kph. That may have been during his fastest lap.
Gasly was 2nd with 332.9kph.

To add to that here's Jolyon's view of the incident on the official F1 youtube channel:
<https://youtu.be/Rp0GG4y3is8>
Can't be arsed watching it? He, with all of the data available to F1 and with fairly recent F1
driving experience says in his opinion it's a racing incident. However it's well worth watching as
he spends a lot of time explaining his reasoning and setting the scene leading up to it.

Here's Chainbear's view of it also:

According to Autosport website, "Valtteri Bottas currently holds the
record for the highest speed in an F1 race, hitting 372.5km/h (231.4mph)
in the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix."

Honda tried to break 400kph at Bonneville Salt Flats in 2006, but
ONLY managed 397.36 (driven by Alan van der Merwe).

Some more records discussed here:

Ah of course, the altitude would have helped there. I think the
long-jump (etc) was also aided in the Olympics when held there.

I lived there (and attended the GPs) '86 to '89.

Also visited San Antonio and Austin a few times, but didn't see
Texarsebandit there though. Did see Dr John at a small bar in Austin...
