I'm a former ref. I do not agree with the way offside is being
interpreted at all. You are not offside if there are two players
"nearer" the goal than you are. I think "nearer" should be based on
your feet, not your torso. If the defender is standing still as part
of a trap he'll be standing straight up. If you are on a run past him
you will be leaning forward--that's what you do when you run. If your
feet have not actually passed him you should be on side. I have seen
at least two attackers get screwed on this already.
