Anyone watched it yet? My daughter and her husband - who are not F1
fans - told me last night that they had watched it and found it
fascinating. I hope to watch it this week.

Having just watched it I don't disagree with that review. The doco did remind me how much I
disliked Schumacher's behaviour on-track (while admiring his skills). It also reminded me how much
I liked Mika Häkkinen both on and off track.

But yeah, it's an homage that requires inside info to get the most out of. Nothing new (other than
the family movies).

Yes, I’ve seen it. Plenty of archive video that might might be of interest
to the casual fan but, being family-approved it’s all pretty anodyne. No
objective analysis of Michael’s character or discussion of the fact that on
occasion he resorted to less than sportsmanlike tactics, and sometimes to
downright cheating. The most cataclysmic event of his life is dealt with
almost as an afterthought and, as expected, we learn nothing new about his
present condition.

I noticed that the writer and director went to great lengths to portray Michael as not thinking he
was ever in the wrong (when he obviously was, several times). I guess they needed to placate the
family to get access to family members, family photographs and movies.

Yep, I was a fan at the time but the doco made it very clear (as he was often in the same footage
as Schumacher) that he was a gentleman.
