This isn't Chargers related.

I think we need a conspiracy theory to explain the number of footballs
that are bouncing off the uprights every week. I can't keep count.
There was even a kickoff this weekend that doinked.

I suggest magnets in the ball and electro magnets in the goalposts as my
Occam's razor theory. Better theories anyone?

Is it my imagination? Doesn't it feel like doinks are crazy this year?

I think kickers are getting worse.

How about all TD's are 7 points. If you want to go for the 8th point you have to score in the end zone like a 2 point play. BUTTTT if you fail, you lose a point and your TD is only worth 6! I'm sick of watching kickers fail miserable time after time. Just my 2 cents.

I'd go for that. The main change from the current situation is that if
you dilly-dally and get a delay of game penalty, you can currently
switch back to a 1 point attempt. Would you make them still try for 2
from the 7?

However, I think coaches should just change their mindsets and always go
for 2, except in the last 5 minutes if you think 1 point will win the
game.

I'd also support a rule that if you are behind by exactly 7, you are
required to go for 2. The game is brutal enough as it is. Anything that
can be done to avoid overtime periods ought to be enacted. I really
think regular season games should just end in ties, but I *know* that
viewpoint is too unpopular even to discuss.

That actually changes the math a bit in favor of the now-automatic PAT. Moving the PAT from 20 to 33 yards has had the intended effect of increasing 2 point conversion attempts across the league since the PAT success rate has dipped from 99% to 93-95%.
