Forgive me for my apparent senility, but I cannot remember how pole
position is determined on the weekends with a spring race.

Pole is either: (a) fastest qually lap in Q3, or (b) winner of the
sprint race.

All I can remember is that there was some discussion about the merits of
each of those options. And I'm not really interested in rehashing all that.

So, as of Friday, do we know who is on pole -- or what we have always
called "pole" -- or not?

Winner of the sprint (barring penalty adjustments); the finishing order
of the sprint determines the starting grid for Sunday. Same as last year.

The discussion was about the Official Pole Winner designation, which
last year went to the sprint winner but this year goes to the fastest
qualifier - Verstappen in this case.
