It's no consolation at all. There was nothing inspiring from any player
or unit that gives hope for a competitive season. The D was okay until
they were forced to spend too much time on the field. Jones sucked,
Barkley sucked, nothing from the TEs, the OL was decent but did give up
a couple of sacks. Jackson got burnt but was lucky their was a drop.
Another 0-2 is looking very possible.

Ernie this is my pet peeve....the D wasnt FORCED to spend that much time in the feild, their poor play was the reason they COULDn't get off the feild, thus leaving the challenged offense little room for error,,,,

I thought Golliday made some nice plays. Also I didn't hear Andrew Thomas's name called so that's a good thing. The OL sucked at run blocking but was ok with pass protection. That didn't look like a top 5 defense or top 10 or 15 or 20 even. It's just one game but not a good showing.

i'm not so sure i can give a proper grade for the offense, because what did they have not in emergency time? 4 possessions?

I thought the one possession that the offense had that they definitely did not come through was the one right after the Denver turnover. They took over late in the half still up 7-3 deep in their own territory. They needed at least one first down to keep Denver from getting the ball in excellent field position with time left. They ran Barkley up the middle for almost no yards followed by an incompletion and a very short completion to Rudolph. Not counting the kneel down on the last play of the half, the next time they touched the ball on offense was way, way later and down 2 scores.

Yes i thought they were a bit conservative there but you also do not want a turnover there so even after Dixons nice punt im thinkin "ok well even if they get 3 we go in half up 7-6" Nope, it was at that point where the D had like a gazzillion chances to make a play and get the ball, but nope the offense didnt get it til most the 3rd Q was gone!
Lets call it what it was, a close defensive game until end of the first half when the D collapsed, and asking the offense for late 2 score comebacks right now as we know them is like asking a hotdog vendor for an ice cream cone.....its not gonna happen.
