Will the RB upgrade increase the gap or will they stumble?
Can McLaren maintain their new found form?
Will we see the old Daniel Ricciardo?
Can Fernando Alonso return to fighting at the front on a circuit that is
said to suit the Aston more?

Let's see if getting this out sooner this time can get something going. :)

Yes, this group has become sadly depleted of late :-( Maybe the reason for
this is the utter dominance of RBR and MV. I expect to see this maintained
in Hungary.

Hopefully McLaren will be able to maintain their newly-found form. Piastri
looks like a major new talent.

I am frankly dubious as to whether Danny Ric will be able to do much with
the Alpha Tauri, he will certainly have to show himself to be decisively
quicker than Tsunoda by the end of the season if he is to progress.

Can’t help feeling that the Aston Martin surge is on the wain but Fernando
should still go well at the Hungaroring. I fear that papa Stroll will soon
have to consider firing hi son.

Yes utter dominance can make a season pretty dull. I really hoped Checo
would put the fight to Max a few times a year to give some excitement at
the front but he has really crumbled under pressure this year. The scrap
for the remaining positions is pretty decent though.

I also think Aston Martin won't be running near the front for the rest of
the season. Hopefully here can be a bit of a spark as their car is good at
lower speeds.

I actually have good expectations with Daniel, he seems in a much better
place psych wise and that should help him a lot. He know this isn't a dead
end seat like say at Haas where things won't ever really get better, and
that should keep the motivation up.

Hopefully we'll have a decent chat during quali too.

The slowing down might also be that newsgroup usage is dropping so much
that ISPs are not including free accounts with internet access. I use a
free account that just doesn't allow binaries but not everyone will go
through that. Twitter has easy app access for all and is free but lately
it hasn't been as pleasant a place to be.

Yes, we are all antediluvian here. I tend to hang on partly out of habit
and partly because I am reluctant to give Zuckerberg, Musk et al easy
access to my data.
I pay 10 euros p.a. to individual.net for Usenet access.

Yes, let’s make sure we preserve going nowhere teams like Haas and Williams in its current form and prevent the entry of a dynamic organization like Andretti who might possibly shake up this morass.

So much BS going on in that situation. It's like everything additionally
that is stated as a necessity for entry, they get it and then nothing. I
actually thought manufacturer backing would have took them over the line
but the teams were having none of it.

I actually liked Twitter before Elon got ahold of it. I also won't use any
platform that Zuck brings so I came back to newsgroups. Unfortunately, not
as much activity as back in the day but maybe that's for the best. I'd
prefer a smaller user base with less trolls.

I use Eternal September for access, it's free for text only use. Just in
case you ever come across anyone that wants to do usenet just to
communicate.

Drivers dropped after Q1: Albon, Tsunoda, Russell, Magnussen, Sargeant.

Daniel Ricciardo into Q2 :)

Great to see Hamilton earning pole!

The new tire rules don't add much to the show and if they want to save money they should find off track ways to do that.

I'd think that reducing the total number of tires would save a fair bit.

And most teams run only softs in Q3 anyway, don't they? Any team that
needs to run softs in either of the other qualifying sessions really
isn't going to challenge for a win anyway.

As would making the tyres more durable. I've never been a fan of the whole artificially 'frangible
tyre' policy that F1 adopted to 'imporove racing'.

Russell's a bit whiny. Saying it's not the overtaking drivers to blame for ruining his prep for his
qualifying attempt and blaming the team. Yet the team sent him out right behind Hamilton - he let
the four or five drivers pass him in the last couple of corners, that wasn't the team's doing.
