One thing I learned watching Kenny Stabler fifty years ago was... when it's 2nd
& <2 yards-- THROW DEEP! It's scares the hell out of the defense AND you might
complete the pass.

I can't think of a better time to try the deep pass, but the Chargers always try
to get the 1st down in that situation.

I think that teams should try to get 9 yards on first down rather than
11 to set up those opportunities. It seems like I complain every game
about how stupid it is to run up the middle on 2nd and 1. It's not just
the Chargers. It seems like it is nearly everybody.
