Height - interesting facts you probably
didn't know 'til reading this post

~~~
What is Considered Tall for a Man?
https://tallsome.com/tall-for-a-man
Interesting but failing to pay attention
to the different average heights in dif-
ferent countries:
~~~

Average human height by country
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_human_height_by_country

Comment: The article details limitations
in the data, but this is the most detailed
presentation on heights by country that
I've found in my brief search for height
information.

~~~
Dwarfism
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarfism
~~~

Calculation of Percents at each Height
in the U.S. for men based on information
in the following chart, solely for ages 20
to 29
https://www2.census.gov/library/publications/2010/compendia/statab/130ed/tables/11s0205.pdf

less than 5'4" ... Base figure too small
to meet statistical standards of reliability
of a derived figure.

5'4" 3.7% minus the unknown percent for
those men who are under 5'4" & 96.3% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 5'4"

5'5" 3.5%, put another way, 7.2% of men
in the U.S. are 5'5" or shorter & 92.8% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 5'5"

5'6" 4.4%, put another way, 11.6% of men
in the U.S. are 5'6" or shorter & 88.4% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 5'6"

5'7" 9%, put another way, 20.6% of men
in the U.S. are 5'7" or shorter & 79.4% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 5'7"

5'8" 12.5%, put another way, 33.1% of men
in the U.S. are 5'8" or shorter & 66.9% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 5'8"

5'9" 9.1%, put another way, 42.2% of men
in the U.S. are 5'9" or shorter & 57.8% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 5'9"

5'10" 16.4%, put another way, 58.6% of
men in the U.S. are 5'10" or shorter &
41.4% of men in the U.S. are taller than
5'10"

5'11" 12.1%, put another way, 70.7% of
men in the U.S. are 5'11" or shorter &
29.3% of men in the U.S. are taller than
5'11"

6' 9.2%, put another way, 79.9% of men
in the U.S. are 6' or shorter & 20.1% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 6'

6'1" 9.1%, put another way, 89% of men
in the U.S. are 6'1" or shorter & 11% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 6'1"

6'2" 5.1%, put another way, 94.1% of men
in the U.S. are 6'2" or shorter & 5.9% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 6'2"

6'3" 4.2%, put another way, 98.3% of men
in the U.S. are 6'3" or shorter & 1.7% of
men in the U.S. are taller than 6'3"

6'4" 1.7%, unfortunately, for men in the
U.S. ages 20 to 29, they list the cumula-
tive totals as 100% at heights 6'4", 6'5",
& 6'6", so no way of knowing what the
percents are at those heights. They do
have cumulative percents at those ...

.... heights for ages 30 to 59, but they
do not have cumulative percents at
those heights for ages 20 to 29 & ages
60 & above. I presume there are a very
small number of men who are taller ...

.... than 6'6" & no height taller than 6'6"
appears on the report.

Follow-up:

Well, interesting height article about
celebrities, the perspective of a male
writer, Jon Gardocki, is bizarre / weird
in some of his selections, as I've docu-
mented below.
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/?spadid=37720654

Slideshow titled "Celebrities Who Are
Unusually Short In Real Life"

The title should be changed to "Female
Celebrities who are lower than average
U.S height for females which is 5 ft 3+1⁄2
inches & Male Celebrities who are lower
than average U.S height for males which
is 5' 9 inches".

(actually, it's a perfect example of how
words like "short" are very subjective,
per the United States average heights
at the following article, the average ...

.... female height in the U.S. is 5 ft 3+1⁄2
inches, & average male height in the
U.S. is 5' 9 inches)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_human_height_by_country

Weird, the individual who wrote the fol-
lowing article about supposedly "unusu-
ally short in real life" female actresses,
he included Kit Harrington, who is 3+1⁄2
inches *taller* than the average female
height. The writer, Jon Gardocki, his ...

.... assessment of female height is biz-
arre / weird / biased against every fe-
male who is lower than the average
height of females, 3 females who are
taller than the average height of ...

.... females, & every male who is lower
than the average height of males in
the U.S. (with 2 exceptions, those be-
ing the obviously short statures of
Kevin Hart & Danny DeVito).

Also note that in most pictures the cel-
ebrity in the title is pictured next to taller
individuals & also note that in at least
one picture one of the individuals is the
same height as another individual but ...

.... appears much shorter, showing the
weakness of trying to convey persons'
heights in photos (the selected photos
in this array are intentionally chosen to
give an illusion of shortness far removed
from the manner in which most, not all, ...

.... of their heights are within 4 inches of,
the average heights of females & males
in the U.S.):

30 links to "Female Celebrities who are
lower than the average U.S height for

is 5 ft 3+1⁄2 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/19/

Bruno Mars - 5'5"
(average male height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 9 inches), Bruno is often pic-
tured wearing a hat or with his hair
styled in a high manner, he's on the
left in this photo
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/20/
Isla Fisher - 5'3"
(average female height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 3+1⁄2 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/21/

Martin Freeman - 5'6"
(average male height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 9 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/22/

For whatever it's worth, on a web search
for Martin Freeman height, the following
website says he's 5'7":
https://www.celebheightwiki.com/martin-freeman-height

Hayden Panettiere - 5'
(average female height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 3+1⁄2 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/23/

Elijah Wood - 5'5"
(average male height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 9 inches), I'm unsure which of the
4 males in the photo is Elijah as the 3 on
the left look very much alike & the descrip-
tion says he's an inch shorter, so based on
that clue, maybe he's the one on the far
left, just a guess:
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/24/

For whatever it's worth, on a web search
for Elijah Wood height, the following says
he's 5'6":
https://www.google.com/search?q=Elijah+Wood+height

Aziz Ansari - 5'5"
(not sure what Aziz's height should be
compared to as he's an American born
to immigrant parents from India - the
average height of males in India is 5'5")
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/25/

For whatever it's worth, on a web search
for Aziz Ansari height, the following says
he's 5'6":
https://www.google.com/search?q=Aziz+Ansari+height

Kevin Hart - 5'4"
(average male height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 9 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/26/

for Kevin Hart height, the following web-
site says he's 5'2":
https://www.celebheights.com/s/Kevin-Hart-734.html

Mark Wahlberg - 5’8"
(average male height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 9 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/27/

is the same as it is in the U.S., 5 ft 9 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/28/

Jack Black - 5’6"
(average male height in the U.S.
is 5 ft 9 inches)
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/29/

Danny DeVito - 5'0"
https://definition.org/short-celebrities/30/

For whatever it's worth, on a web search
for Danny DeVito height, the following says
he's 4'10":
https://www.google.com/search?q=Danny+DeVito+height

That's borderline to the description in the
following link which states that dwarfism
"is sometimes defined as an adult height
of less than 4 ft 10 inches."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarfism
