This movie began showing on Hulu today, & it
got good reviews at the rotten tomatoes website.
One flaw, however, in the early going, it shows the
tribe hunting a supposed lion 300 years ago in
the northern plains of America.

I looked that up & found that lions went extinct in
the Americas 10,000 years ago. I know, there's a
predator with advanced technology which will turn
out to be the primary focus of the tribe, & I don't
know why director Trachtenberg has them hunting
for a supposed lion that didn't exist in the Americas
at the time of the movie, 300 years ago.

I'll follow this up with an assessment of that flaw
& other assessments of the movie free of spoilers
when I finish watching the movie later today.

Could be the director is using "artistic license" (devi-
ation from fact or form for artistic purposes).

Put another way, could be the director used the lion
for dramatic effect, & like the predator in the movie
doesn't exist in real life, that's akin to the lion in the
movie not existing at that time 300 years ago in real
life.

Follow-up:

The lion flaw (or, if you prefer, dramatic license),
the next predator in the movies was a bear, fully
legit, followed by the 'alien' predator that had
advanced technological capabilities akin to
what you'd expect in a sci-fi space movie.

As for how or why the 'alien' predator came to
Earth, not addressed in the movie.

The star of the movie, Naru, played by Amber
Midthunder, she's a real life member of the Fort
Peck Sioux Tribe. It's a female power role, & I
always miss when a movie doesn't have any
romance or sex in it. This movie is a heavy
continuum of violence.

I recommend it only for those who like heavy
violence free of any romance in a movie or who
are fans of a female playing a power role & are
not put off by the lack of romance or the heavy
continuum of violence.
