are amazing! Why hasn't he found a place on a team before? I understand
that he doesn't neatly fit into a position--his ballhandling skills
aren't sufficient to be a lead guard, his outside shooting isn't steady
enough for a shooting guard, and at 6-3 he's not tall enough to play
SF--but still, he has skills and adds obvious value to a team. Anyway,
really glad the Warriors have him. He'll get a lot of open looks from
three on this team. If he can hit even a decent percentage, he will be a
steal. Well, he already is, really.

In Gary's post game interviews, he's overly modest and is quite soft
spoken. He just needed to find a team like the Warriors to complement
his game. He's the epitome of a team player and now the fans are engaged
as they await his next spectacular play to lift them out of their seats.
I can honestly say that this team is larger than the sum of their parts
and when they're able to focus, they're unstoppable.

Though there's not very large sample size, take a look at GP's
*eye-popping* stats. The shooting percentages are crazy:

68% overall shooting
56% from 3-pt range
74% from 2-pt range
100% from the FT line

and he leads the team in PER by A LOT.

What a great story.

He's doing much better than his career stats:

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/paytoga02.html

Career 29.5% on 3-point GFAs.

He reminds me of Patrick Beverley, except more "up" (Beverley seems more
like a snarling dog). Both are terrific defenders with limited offensive
games. Beverley has better ball-handling and GP2 is a better finisher.
The thing about him that impresses me is how much his dogged defensive
energy has seemed to rub off on the Warriors. It's like, he adds a whole
lot to the team with just his energy and high IQ (and athleticism,
another thing he's better than Beverley at). He's fun to watch.

I agree! Plus he has such a good story.

Beverly became a reliable catch and shoot 3-point shooter, which
probably helped him earn the biggest contract of his career.

GPII is going to have to continue to show proficiency from 3 to get minutes.

Also he's unlikely to have the kind of defensive impact he's shown so far.

But it would be great to see him get regular minutes, as Warriors start
playing better teams.
