It's about time. I was starting to think that despite all the hoopla
over new ownership, the Mets were getting Wilpon 2.0. They've made a
couple of decent moves but I'm still waiting for that 'big bat' at DH.

With the payroll likely going over $300 million per year, there's little chance that Steve Cohen will ever be mistaken for the Wiplons. Whether that leads to any championships, ofc course, is another question altogether.

For the right-handed DH........with a little patience, some combination of Alvarez (when not catching) and Vientos may be able to fill that role, as they started to do towards the end of last season. They both definitely show signs of being productive hitters, with power. It goes without saying that almost anyone would be an improvement on Ruf.

I still think if the Mets had Wilmer Flores on their roster in 2022,
they'd have had the chance to get beat by Houston.
