Pitt for first time this year today at 3. I noticed they made a nice jump in the analytic ratings i use too. There was 3 knocks on the Rangers going into the Washington game. Relatively soft schedule up to now, only plus 1 goal differential on 5 on 5 and relying to much on Shesterkin. A win vs Pitt would further silence the critics.

Interesting that you mention the analytics considering this article from today's NY Post in which says the Rangers really don't care what the analytics say,

The Rangers didnt say that Larry said it, he just said it to prove coaching still matters...there is no NUMBERS for defense in hockey besides the very unreliable plus minus stat, and virtually no numbers that tells you how Reeves, Trouba and Lindgren keep the goons off of guys like Panarin and Fox.....Analytics should be a tool not a be-all end-all, but to ignore them or "not care" as you say, like Gettleman did early, is foolish and dumb. You will be labeled a dinosaur real fast if you do.

Oh my reply was from the first article you posted , but its pretty much the same anyway, tho Reeves says he is "not a big fan" of analytics, something that you would expect from players like him, that does not equate to the Rangers coaches/front office not caring about analytics, inspite of the misleading headline. And we were already thru the headline fight in here, if you remember. The guy who writes the article doesn't write the headline

And if you think about it Jeff, Analytics has been around forever, its just stats, but now they are "next gen" stats, thats all....in fact the "underwear olympics", AKA the combine, is one big analytic track meet. How big his hands, how fast is his 40, how is his cones, how quick is his release, how high is his jump, how much can he bench press, how much can he squat, what is his wunderlick.....but lets not ignore the eyetest on tape of them actually playing football....
