Warriors’ postponed game vs. Nuggets gets new date

The Warriors were concerned their postponed game at Denver would lead to
more challenging circumstances for themselves, and those proved accurate
Monday with the news of the game’s new date: March 7, a scheduled off
day before they’re set to host the Clippers.

“It’s a lot tougher for us than for Denver, obviously,” Warriors coach
Steve Kerr said Monday, after the league announced the rescheduled date.
“They don’t have to go anywhere and we have to make a special trip
there. Not ideal, but it is what it is. A lot of teams are having to
make concessions and doing different thing just to keep the league
moving while we go through this. So that’s what we’ll do.”

The Warriors-Nuggets game was one of 11 postponed games around the
league to receive a new date Monday.

Golden State’s originally scheduled game at Denver, last Thursday, was
called off about five hours before tip off because the Nuggets weren’t
able to suit up the minimum eight players required by the NBA. Three
players entered health and safety protocols that morning and four
players’ whose status was questionable were ultimately ruled out; three
of them were able to play two nights later.

The Warriors would have had a day off between their games at Denver and
Utah but instead regrouped to hold two practices in Denver. The new date
robs Golden State of consecutive days off at home before they host the
Clippers on March 8.

The Warriors were originally scheduled to travel to Los Angeles to face
the Lakers on Saturday, March 5. They would have likely traveled home
that night and not had another game until hosting the Clippers the
following Tuesday.

Now, the Clippers game will come on the second night of a back-to-back,
and Golden State will have to decide between coming home after its game
in Los Angeles or heading straight to Denver.
