And no matter what they say NOW after he crapped out in Washington most the draft pundits thought the Giants would be the ones to take the poor guy. Remember the boos when Giants took DJ? And it was OBVIOUS by that time Eli was close to done, surely for a team rebuilding.... so they had to pick a QB no matter, it was already a year to late (and please spare me the MMQB allstar saying we should have waited and picked the kid on the Chargers, i mean i'd be a rich man if i could go back in time after seeing the future!).....and now DJ is at the end of his rope and has one last shot...remember poor Haskins may have failed miserably but a lot of others are in DJ's boat or WORSE....Mayfeild, Goff, Darnold, Trubisky, Tua, Rosen.....it is anything BUT an exact science....

I don't follow college football so I don't have a clue who is good but I do remember a lot of talk about the Giants taking Herbet if he came out a year earlier.. Also some were calling the Giants racist for not taking Haskins

yes i remember some did insinuate DG was racist.....please these guys would draft a purple dude if it meant NOT getting fired! Tho i would say there still is a stereo type of the black QB as he runs too much (no longer a drawback in todays game i guess!) and isnt the "feild general" type, but thats more institutional i think than some GM is an evil racist, not unlike the HC thing too....Warren Moon had to go to canada first years ago and he was not a running QB plus he had excellent leadership skills, so that showed me years ago that was not true....its just that being an HOF QB of ANY color is not a common thing....

He was a Snyder pick. He went to the same school as Snyders son. He
thought he could fill seats with a hometown hero. The coaches didn't
want him. He had good talent. But was like another Johnny football.
Parties and immature. I was rooting for him. It was hard for him when
he got back with old friends from the area. Pittsburgh was an eye
openr for him. But it still took time. He was finally learning the
craft and settling down. And not relying on just his natural
abilities. He was in contention to compete for a higher qb position
this year. So young, finally got on the right track then a weird
sccident took him.

Haskins also grew up in Jersey, a Giants fan. i'd say 80% the mock drafts had the Giants taking Haskin so it wasnt only Snyder who got it wrong......can't even say DG got that one right tho, DJ is basically hanging on to his job by default right now, but surely not as big of a bust as Haskins seemed to be.....Haskin was till young tho, never know maybe he at least makes a good living as a career back up. I'd say Pitt didnt have THAT much confidence in him tho, they signed Trubisky, who i dont think would have beat out Jones to start the year, but maybe if Jones got off to a slow start and at minimum Trubisky would have been a good backup for us.....Mitch taking the Pitt job was a no brainer for him tho.
