The sports betting places (big money, smart money)
have good odds for Verstappen to win WDC

F1 odds 2021: Verstappen a RED-HOT favorite now
Jul 05, 2021 Stryker Maguire
F1 Odds

The gap between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in the F1 betting odds
to be world champion in 2021 is even wider after the Dutchman claimed
yet another victory Sunday.

Verstappen followed up his wins in the French and Styrian Grands Prix
with another success in the Austrian race at the Red Bull Ring. Three
wins in three weekends have changed the face of this title race.

Just over a month ago we were worried Hamilton might run away with the
title again after easy wins in Portugal and Spain – a few weeks later
it’s the other way round. Max now leads Lewis by 32 points, and online
bookmakers are about ready to anoint him as world champion for 2021.

Max is now as short as -455 as he bids for a first title. Hamilton is
now as big as +300 as he chases an eighth – unheard of in recent years.

Now the drivers get a week off – or at least a week where they are not
racing. Then it is on to the UK and Silverstone for the British Grand
Prix. Here is all the latest news and odds…

F1 Odds 2021: Drivers Championship
Mercedes has been so dominant in recent years that maybe it doesn’t get
enough credit for what it’s achieved. Beating Verstappen in 2021 might
surpass all of that though.

The ease of the Dutchman’s latest victory Sunday will have sent further
shockwaves through the Silver Arrows team. This will be a mighty tough
tide to stem.

Max is now a very hot favorite to clinch the title later in 2021, while
the odds on Lewis get bigger after every race. That British Grand Prix
later this month is pretty much must-win for the UK sporting hero now.

Here are the current odds to become world drivers’ champion in 2021
(best odds, relevant sportsbook in brackets):

Max Verstappen (Red Bull): -275 (BetMGM, Borgata)
Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes): +300 (Unibet, SugarHouse, Resorts)
Sergio Perez (Red Bull): +6600 (Resorts)
Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes): +15000 (widely available)
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari): +100000 (bet365, Resorts)
Lando Norris (McLaren): +100000 (bet365)
Carlos Sainz (Ferrari): +200000 (bet365)
Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren): +200000 (bet365)
Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri): +250000 (bet365)
Fernando Alonso (Alpine): +250000 (bet365)
Esteban Ocon (Alpine): +250000 (bet365)
All odds correct and updated at 0600 ET on Monday July 5, 2021

F1 Odds 2021 Constructors Championship
The gap between Red Bull and Mercedes in the race to be top team in 2021
continues to widen – it’s now up to 44 points from 40 before that race
in Austria Sunday.

Red Bull is now the hottest of favorites to win the constructors’
championship – still available at -300 with some sportsbooks but as
short as -500 with others.

Mercedes meanwhile is current available at odds ranging from +225 to
+350. Silverstone is now a necessity…

The latest odds to be the top F1 team in 2021 are:

-300 Red Bull (BetMGM, Borgata)
+350 Mercedes (Resorts)
+20000 Ferrari (bet365)
+25000 McLaren (BetMGM, Borgata)
All odds correct and updated at 0600 ET on Monday July 5, 2021
Next F1 race: British Grand Prix 2021
Like we already said, F1 returns to one of its spiritual homes for the
next race – the British Grand Prix.

Silverstone is one of THE best tracks on the calendar, producing
blinding speed and thrilling action. A race not to miss. Just to add to
the excitement, F1 rolls out its new Sprint Qualifying format for this
race. We are geeked for that.

Race weekend gets under Friday July 16, with the race proper taking
place Sunday July 18. It has a 1000 ET start with live TV coverage and
stream available on ESPN.

As yet, no sportsbooks have set money lines for Silverstone – as soon as
they do we will post them here.

F1 FAQ for 2021
Some of these questions might seem crazy, but they do get asked a lot.
So here goes:

Is F1 rigged?

No, F1 is absolutely not rigged. Teams spend hundreds of millions of
dollars every year to compete at the top. So Formula 1 betting is
completely legit.

Can you bet on F1?

Absolutely, see above. The drivers and constructors F1 odds are the tip
of the iceberg. There are a ton of prop bets available for each and
every race too. For example which driver will leave the race first, and
which one will drive the fastest lap. You can have a number of wagers to
increase excitement during the race. Check out our full F1 betting guide.

Do long shots win in F1?

Not very often, but yes it can absolutely happen. Pierre Gasly was
around +150000 when he claimed an astonishing victory at the Italian
Grand Prix in 2020.

Is F1 still dangerous?

F1 remains extremely dangerous, despite incredible advances in safety.

Only one F1 driver has died in the last 25 years (Jules Bianchi sadly
perishing after spending nine months in a coma following a horrible
accident in Japan in October 2014). More recently Romain Grosjean
somehow survived that fireball in Bahrain in 2020.

So yes, while safety has improved a ton in recent years, the dangers
remain very very real.

Just because these incredible drivers make it look ridiculously easy for
the most part, doesn’t mean that it is.

What does F1 mean?

F1 is short for Formula 1 – the highest class of single-seater racing
sanctioned by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). There
is also an F2 – a lower class – which drivers often race in before
graduating to F1.

How does points scoring work in F1?

Drivers score points according to their finishing position in the race:

1st: 25 points
2nd: 18 points
3rd: 15 points
4th : 12 points
5th: 10 points
6th: 8 points
7th: 6 points
8th: 4 points
9th: 2 points
10th: 1 point
The driver recording the fastest lap of the race gets a bonus point.
How does F1 qualifying work?

Qualifying takes place over three short sessions on the Saturday
afternoon of each race weekend. Drivers are ordered based on their
fastest one lap in each session.

Qualifying Session 1: All 20 drivers compete. The fastest 15 go through
to Q2. The slowest 5 go out.

Qualifying Session 2: The remaining 15 drivers compete. The top 10 go
through to Q3. The slowest 5 go out.

Qualifying Session 3: The remaining 10 drivers compete for the first 10
positions on the grid for Sunday’s race. The fastest takes pole position.
