Preventable risk factors to limit cancer:
Smoking, alcohol, high body mass index

the entertainment industry to show peo-
ple smoking, as if the entertainment indus-
try doesn't give a damn about promoting
cancer/death/smoking].

alcohol consumption were short-lived in

being influenced to consume unhealthy
food, an alarmingly large percentage of
it unhealthy, by the American food indus-

higher than overly heavy health risks; also,
it's highly debatable the extent of & ability
of those inclined to eat too much to cut
back, varying from individual to individual, ...

are largely unchangeable with current tech-
nology; another unmentioned factor, exer-
cise, the seduction of the couch/recliner/
computer/video games/entertainment ...

get pleasure from exercise (I simply state
that from my own personal experience that
the so-called hormonal rush that many ex-
ercisers report having, I've never had that).]

The report also includes projections for 2023,
estimating that there could be nearly 2 million
new cancer cases – the equivalent of about
5,000 cases a day – and more than 600,000
cancer deaths in the United States this year.

cers combined has increased from 49% for
diagnoses in the mid-1970s to 68% for diag-
noses during 2012-18.

The cancer types that now have the highest
survival rates are thyroid at 98%, prostate at
97%, testis at 95% and melanoma at 94%,
according to the report.

Current survival rates are lowest for cancers
of the pancreas, at 12%.
