Warriors guard Gary Payton II returned to practice Friday and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Spurs at Chase Center. The 29-year-old hurt his knee March 3 in Dallas and has missed the past seven games.

Payton started five consecutive games prior to his injury, averaging 11 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals while playing over 23 minutes a night and shooting 57% from the field.

Along with Payton, Andrew Wiggins and Nemanja Bjelica also returned to the practice court Friday after missing recent games because of general illness.. Both are listed as questionable for Sunday, but are likely to play.

Wiggins is averaging 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 62 games this season and shooting 47% from the field.

“It’s incredibly important (having) those guys back,” Warriors guard Klay Thompson said. “I’m happy for Gary. I know he doesn’t like sitting out, same with Andrew. Especially on the defensive end, they’re going to help us.”

Rookie guard Moses Moody did not practice after hurting his shoulder during Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics. Head coach Steve Kerr said Moody’s MRI exam revealed no structural damage but did not say what his status will be for Sunday.

Green ready for more? Draymond Green, who recently returned from injury on a minutes restriction, told reporters following Wednesday’s loss to Boston that he’s willing to start in Stephen Curry’s absence to help the team stay afloat.

When asked about Green’s workload, Kerr said he anticipates it will continue to increase gradually.

“He’s responded really well to both games he’s played,” Kerr said. “And as that goes up, he’s for sure getting back in the starting lineup and we’ll go from there.

Green was minus-15 in 22 minutes in his second game back from injury. He attempted only two field goals, but had eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Wiseman update: After being recalled by the Warriors on Tuesday, second-year center James Wiseman will return to Santa Cruz on Sunday to play against Salt Lake City. Kerr said he’s unsure if Wiseman will join the Warriors on their upcoming road trip.

“It’s good to see him get action after almost a year and start to build some rhythm and conditioning,” Kerr said. “I’m really anxious for him to just stay on this path. It’s so frustrating for such a young guy to deal with a long-term injury like this. But we’ll see how it all plays out.”
