This time things are a lot more down to earth with the Daboll hiring. I remember when Judge was hired some fans and talking heads were like "oh yeah thats the guy, Joe will get them to go" even right up til the collapse middle of last year. I guess after Garrett was used as the fall guy but then things got A LOT worse the writing was on the wall for Joe. And funny thing after the last 4 HC hirings including Daboll, Joe Judge SHOULD have had the most question marks of any of them hands down. A virtual unknown even tho he only coached a few states north for one. Not only zero HC experience but also a non discript resume as an assistant coach rising to only ST coordinator. And last but not least, yet another rotten apple from the BB coaching tree.

I had reservations about Joe from day 1, tho i did like the reports that the players liked him, even tho he did have some old school things like running laps, that never bothered me. The fake talking fast in coaches cliches did bother me some tho and he became "Robot Joe" to me, himey on get smart. And it turned out he wasnt even close to being ready for prime time, and that should have come as surprise to exactly NO ONE. Mac, Shurmer and Daboll all had better resumes before they were hired. And in Macs case it was a promotion.

Judge has a successful future as a used car salesman. The Mara's fell for his fast talking BS and so did I. I was happy to get a new young coach with new ideas but it didn't work out. It also sounded like he was surrounding himself with a lot of smart people. I especially liked the Garret hire. I thought Garret was the perfect coach for Jones and would be a great OC. But I don't blame Judge and Garret totally, they didn't have a lot to work with.

We shall see tom....if Daboll gets the team to at least .500 and gets DJ going then by default more blame goes on Judge and less on DG, since obviously there is still a ton of DG guys on this team...but judge his story with the Giants is written and its a failure, DG still can get redemption at least somewhat....IFFF it is a quick turnaround with guys he drafted, if not its another total rebuild for Schoen...which will take 3 years for his drafts to take effect..even if they are good...

Even going into a rebuild, I don't understand why they didn't go with
someone with an established HC resume. These last few hires are economic
decisions, regardless of what else they say. Franchises like the Giants
shouldn't settle for less than the best available.

Who exactly do you have in mind who has an established head coaching resume would you consider hiring? The only one I can think of is Sean Payton, and I do not think he would consider coming here.

The right contract offer can be very persuasive

And it turned out he wasnt even close to being ready for prime time, and that should have come as surprise to exactly NO ONE. Mac, Shurmer and Daboll all had better resumes before they were hired. Yea coaching is like a catch 22 thing, rarely is a RECENTLY successful HC available, HC's get the blame for bad seasons and get fired and no one wants them even if they had previous success, unlike say a good player on a bad team. I guess the most successful one available was Dan Quinn unless you wanted a fossil like Cowher, but then you had people saying "i dont want a guy who had the worst SB meltdown in history". In fact Parcells is the only one i can think of who jumped around a lot with success but still his only SB was with Giants, and i believe after over 50 years of SB history there STILL isnt an HC who won with 2 different teams.... as an HC that is. Vermiel got to 2 SB with 2 different teams....Reid....but no 2 time winners i do not think.

And oh yeah.....Don Shula was part of that club too.....but lost with the Colts in the Namath SB then won with Miami....And Reeves was a double team loser...Denver and Atlanta....i think that covers it....

oh yeah and Harbaughs name came up.....not sure if that was ever realistic tho, most had him going to chicago if he left michigan, which makes sense being he played there.
