The Warriors won’t be facing the Lakers’ star trio Thursday night in
their national TV showdown.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook are all out for the
game, just two days after the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs
and play-in tournament with a loss to the Suns.

Los Angeles has disappointed all season long after adding Westbrook via
trade from Washington last offseason in exchange for Kyle Kuzma,
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and a first-round pick,
wiping out much of the Lakers’ depth behind Davis and James.

Injuries to James and Davis further harmed the Lakers’ season, and it
became evident that the team was not a title contender as it slid
further down the standings.

Jordan Poole keeps rising to the occasion for Warriors

Of course, the Warriors have had their own star injuries this season,
missing Klay Thompson until January, then Draymond Green from January
until mid-March, and Steph Curry since then. But Golden State started
the season red-hot and has been able to stem the tide of Green’s and
Curry’s absences well enough to remain in position for home-court
advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Instead of a showdown among the West’s elite, the Warriors’
regular-season home finale Thursday night will be a chance for them to
solidify their own playoff seeding at the expense of a downtrodden
Lakers team.

Curry is out Thursday for the Warriors, who are hopeful he will be
healed from his foot injury by the time the playoffs begin.
