An odd article with an Ex-NFL VP of officiating
thinking the NFL will outlaw what the article
calls "a rugby scrum", pushing a QB forward
to try to make a 1st down.

I fail to see why that individual opposes push-
ing a QB for a 1st down. He calls it aesthetic-
ally unpleasing. I suppose he likes punts or
field goals.

The Eagles success rate? 90%. The NFL suc-
cess rate on QB sneaks? 83%.

.... The Eagles converted 37 of their 41 quarter-
back sneak attempts into first downs or touch-
downs, the most conversions and attempts by
a wide margin in the 2022 season.

.... There were an NFL record 308 quarterback
sneaks called by the league's 32 teams this
season, & teams averaged a 1st-down conver-
sion on 83% of them, the highest mark dating
back to Pro Football Focus' inception in 2006.
