Different demographic...they tend to go more poppy for all the non football and female audience that watch the SB...Adam Levine, Katie Perry...This isnt Ozzys first rodeo for opening day, The patriots had him on one of their NFL openers because their intro music is "crazy train"....think that was more Bob Krafts doing tho, not NFL, since it wasnt halftime it was Patriots introduction.

I know the NFL plays to its' audience, which is mostly youngsters and
females for the SB. Still, a few of us 'old folks' would love to have
Ozzy play 'Crazy Train' and a few other old classics. I still think the
best half-time show they had was Tom Petty

I liked the Who and U2, Petty and Bruce was cool too...but last 5-10 years they have went for the younger pop music audience, and as we know rock to that generation is kina like how we thought about Jazz or Blues i assume...last year i guess was the rap thing mostly to keep in line with the "woke" thing i guess.... But i would say Ozzy at his age translates better to youngins than say.....Sinatra to our generation when Sinatra was 73, nothin vs Frank i think he was great....but in general i'm talking...

I like a lot of today's music, but of course I prefer the music I grew
up with. Indeed, the current generation listens to our music much more
than I listened to my father's. My dad of course considered rock music
to be "noise". Glen Campbell was more his speed.

Yes i think the generation gap between the 50s and 60s had a LOT to do with music...today i notice a similar generation gap has arrived politically and culturally....but music has little to do with it like the late 60s early 70s,... today the internet spreads the word, both good and evil...lies and truths...
