Being totally unfamiliar with how Zeke's current
contract would be re-negotiated to a supposed
1 year for $2 million or $2.5 million, it doesn't
appear to me that that is even possible.

As for the article's claim that the above saddens
the NFL world, in general, players are displeased
regarding the average length of careers in the
NFL being so short (see below), although with
every retirement/end of career, an opportunity ...

.... for back-ups increases, so if Zeke's career is
nearing its end, I suspect many are sad about
that, along with many Cowboys opponents find-
ing the fact the Cowboys will take a huge salary
cap hit (paying far too much for far too little in
return) something to be glad about.

Apparently, Zeke, Zeke's agent, & the Cowboys
unable to come to an agreement on a restruc-
tured deal. Zeke's contract will haunt the Cow-
boys salary cap for _?_ (unfortunately, I'm weak
on understanding how all that works), his last
$90 million contract a severe over-estimation ...

.... of actual value by the owner/GM of the Cow-
boys. Oh well, live & learn (or live & forget, with
an 80 years of age owner/GM, not sure what
his take on that mistake will be).

Seems Jerry is enthusiastically giving Zeke
props, but as far as learning from his mis-
take, no evidence that he has learned any-
thing other than he thinks overpaying for
Zeke was worth it 'cause Zeke had 1 really
good year on a 6 year contract extension.
