The Golden State Warriors traded up in Thursday’s NBA draft to select Toledo guard Ryan Rollins with the 44th pick, which they acquired from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for pick No. 51 and $2 million.

Rollins, 19, is a skilled combo guard who’s one of the more polished scorers in the draft. He has decent size and length at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds. He has a tight handle and can get to his spots in the pick-and-roll, and he thrives as a mid-range shooter and rebounds well at his position.

Rollins ranked fourth in the Mid-American Conference in both scoring (18.9 points per game) and steals (1.7 per game) and 13th in rebounding (6.0 per game) last season. He was named to the 2021-22 All-MAC team and was also a NABC All-District 14 First Team selection as a sophomore.

Rollins scored 641 points last season, the third highest total in program history. He’s also just the fourth Toledo player to score 1,000 points in his first two seasons.

The Hawks used the 51st pick on UConn’s Tyrese Martin.
