Juan Toscano-Anderson’s time with the Warriors has officially come to an
end.

Toscano-Anderson agreed to a deal with the Lakers less than two hours
after free agency opened Thursday afternoon, Yahoo Sports reported.

The news comes one day after Golden State decided not to extend a
qualifying offer to the Oakland native before the deadline to do so,
paving the way for Toscano-Anderson to be a free agent.

Toscano-Anderson, a lifelong Warriors fan who grew up going to games at
Oracle Arena, went undrafted out of Marquette and played in various
international leagues, including stops in Mexico and Venezuela, before
he joined the G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors after a local tryout.

Toscano-Anderson donned the No. 95 in honor of his East Oakland
upbringing, which included living on 95th Avenue.

Toscano-Anderson emerged as an effective role player while on a two-way
contract for most of the 2020-21 season. The Warriors converted his
two-way deal into a full-time contract on May 13, 2021 with a 2021-22
roster spot guaranteed — a moment that sparked an emotional phone call
with his mother.

In the 2021-22 title-winning season, Toscano-Anderson’s role decreased
as the season went along, from being an active member of the rotation
early to only playing in end-of-quarter defensive possessions or in
garbage time by the playoffs. He averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in
73 games this season.

In other free agency news, free agent center JaVale McGee reached an
agreement with the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $20 million deal,
according to Yahoo Sports.

McGee revitalized his career with the Warriors and won two of his three
NBA titles in the Bay Area. He drew interest from multiple teams,
according to Yahoo Sports, after a stellar season with the Suns,
averaging 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while
primarily coming off the bench.

This will be McGee’s second stint in Dallas. He’s played with eight
teams in total since he was drafted 18th overall by the Wizards in 2008.
