A few hours after returning from Japan, the Warriors started to shuffle
through a few players on the training camp roster.

The team waived guard Mac McClung and forward Trevion Williams on
Monday, a source confirmed with this news organization. According to
reports, the team also intends to sign forward Anthony Lamb and guard Ty
Jerome to camp deals once they clear waivers.

If any other teams do not sign McClung or Williams, the Warriors still
have the opportunity to pitch both on G-League contracts to play in
Santa Cruz.

McClung was one of the catalysts to the Warriors’ fourth-quarter
comeback win in Game 2 of the Japan preseason games on Saturday. The
23-year-old became a Warrior fan favorite after showing out in Sumer
League with the Warriors and signed a training camp deal soon after. But
his release may have been prompted by Jerome’s availability after the
Houston Rockets waived the 25-year-old on Sunday.

Golden State is in need of some point guard depth. After Steph Curry and
Jordan Poole, 2022 draft pick Ryan Rollins could be the team’s third
option. But Jerome — who has played 112 NBA games with the Suns and
Thunder over three seasons — offers more NBA experience at the position
and could compete for the 15th roster spot.

Williams impressed in Japan and looked to be someone who could add depth
at center along with Kevon Looney, James Wiseman, Draymond Green and
JaMychal Green. But the Lamb is a graduate of Houston Rockets’ G-League
affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers, known for developing 3-point
shooting. He averaged 15 points per game.
