SAN FRANCISCO — Two of the Warriors’ 2022 draft picks are heading to
Santa Cruz this week.

Rookies Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Ryan Rollins were assigned to the
Warriors’ G League affiliate, the NBA team announced Sunday night
following its 130-125 win over the Kings.

Baldwin, the No. 28 overall pick of this year’s draft, hasn’t made his
NBA debut yet as a sprained thumb suffered in the Warriors’ preseason
finale against the Nuggets last week sidelined him for the first three
games of the season.

Prior to the injury, which he said Sunday was feeling better, Baldwin
played in five preseason games, averaging 7.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in
14.7 minutes. Coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers previously
said they expected to send Baldwin down to Santa Cruz for the start of
the season so he can develop his game.

Meanwhile, Rollins has appeared in two NBA games after making his debut
in the season opener Tuesday. He checked in for about a minute in the
fourth quarter of the Warriors’ win Sunday, but was replaced after the
Kings scored five quick points.

Rollins, the No. 44 pick of this year’s draft out of Toledo, averaged
7.8 points, 1 rebound, 2.3 assists and 0.8 steals across four preseason
games with the Warriors.

The Santa Cruz Warriors are set to begin camp this week before opening
their season with back-to-back games against the Ontario Clippers Nov. 4
and 5.
