NEW ORLEANS — It’s sink-or-swim time for the Warriors’ young guys Friday
night against the Pelicans.

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green won’t
play the second night of a back-to-back and their fifth game in a week.
Kevon Looney is the only starter who is not listed out for the game on
the NBA’s injury report, while Curry is dealing with right elbow
soreness, Wiggins has soreness in his left foot and Green (lower back)
and Thompson (right achilles tendon) are out for injury management.

The Warriors enter Thursday on a four-game losing streak and are in
jeopardy of ending this tumultuous trip east 0-5.

The starters have been one of the best lineups in the NBA, with all of
them doing more than their fair share of carrying the load. But there’s
a major drop-off in production and effort between the starters and bench.

After the Warriors’ most recent loss, a one-point defeat to the
shorthanded Orlando Magic Thursday night, coach Steve Kerr said changes
were coming to the rotation.

And with four of the five starters sitting out against the Pelicans,
Friday night is the young guys’ chance to make an argument for why they
deserve a spot in the rotation.

Perhaps the most eager for the opportunity is Jonathan Kuminga, whom
Kerr has left on the bench for three of the last five games.

Another player to watch is James Wiseman, who’s been struggling to
adjust to the speed and physicality of the season.
