But let us remember he is a free agent unless he is tagged. Tagging him can be disastrous as he does not have to sign the tag and can hold out. Also, even if he does sign the tag, that can also be a very negative thing as it is a huge cap hit since it is not spread out. Look what tagging Kirk Cousins, actually twice, did to Washington.

Technically you are right, but realistically does he want to fuck up a good thing for few extra million? After what he has been thru? This guy needs continuity and i think even if they kept shurmur he woulda been ok, now after 2 years of darkness in the Joe Judge era he will not want to risk yet another new system, a new team, a new possibly bad coach and the way Schoen was talking it basically just sounds like a crossing the T's and dotting the I's situation....If he thinks he is worth more then just sign a shorter term deal, that may work out well for both parties, if he becomes elite he is up for a new contract in not to distant future and if not the Giants draft a guy. Its much more likely this scenario plays out with Saquan. And also if every player dispises the Franchise tag.....and i can see why because its a 1 year contract, then why the hell does the NFLPA keep signing off on it?

I really hope they do sign him to at least a 4 year deal. The guy has those certain qualities you want in your QB, smart and tough. He doesn't have Mahones' arm or Jackson's legs but he might just have Brady's mind-set. From what he's shown already, he deserves a contract worthy of a top NFL QB

I say he has Elis demeaner off the feild, throws a prettier ball but his big game clutch factor, Elis best attribute, YTBD. I think his on the feild fire is more than Eli but less than Phil, more of a stocky build like Phil and of course he puts both those all time Giants greats to shame in the running dept. What we do not know yet is his ceiling because he had shit coaching for 2 years and this year he had the coaching but was playing with 3rd and 4th string WR, plus the oline is still a WIP but improving.
