Green unbothered by 'Draymond Rules,' even after suspension

by Jarrod Castillo

Draymond Green isn't too concerned about the rationale behind why the
NBA suspended him for Game 3 of the Warriors' first-round NBA playoff
series with the Sacramento Kings.

Speaking to reporters during the Warriors' media availability on
Saturday at Chase Center, Green reiterated that the rules the league
implemented don't bother him in the slightest.

"They created 'Draymond Rules' before -- them s--ts don't work," the
33-year-old said in response to a question from NBC Sports Bay Area's
Kerith Burke. "Here I am, still sitting here, still winning. They
created those rules before, they didn't work. They still don't work."

The rules Green is referring to were the basis for his Game 3 suspension.

Joe Dumars, the NBA's Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball
Operations, announced late on April 18 that Green's history of
"unsportsmanlike acts" played a part in the Warriors defensive ace's
suspension.

In his 11-year NBA career, Green has been ejected 17 times and has been
suspended four times, with two of those coming in the playoffs. Most
notably, the other time Green was suspended in the playoffs was for Game
5 of the 2016 NBA Finals against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

So jarring was Green's suspension that it left stars like Steph Curry,
Damian Lillard and the rest of NBA Twitter confused by the ruling.

Still, Green isn't worried about the "Draymond Rules" and will continue
to keep playing basketball with the same intensity and fire that always
has played with because the results speak for themselves.

"If I was losing, they wouldn't be creating 'Draymond Rules,' " he
continued. "So, as long as they're creating 'Draymond Rules,' that means
we're winning and that's great. They can create as many 'Draymond Rules'
as they want. That's beautiful.

"But it doesn't change Draymond. It is what it is."

Despite playing without its two best defenders in Green and Gary Payton
II, Golden State blew out Sacramento on Thursday at Chase Center and
will look to even the series at two games apiece on Sunday.

And with the suspension firing up Green and the rest of the Warriors,
fans on both sides can expect a very physical Game 4, especially as the
veteran gets back to intense ways on the court.
