yankees-rangers game....

Some pushover wannabe metro dan schulman is the play by play guy, and former softball player named Jessica Mendoza(because thats the same sport right??) is the 'lead analyst'....

For some reason they decide one guy with testosterone levels lower than most 4 year old girls and a female lead analyst wasn't quite enough estrogen to cover baseball....

So they decide to bring on *another* female analyst named Marly Rivera whoever that is.

And for an entire half inning(hell maybe more) Jessica Mendoza and Marly Rivera dominated the discussion on current yankee clubhouse chemistry and whether one guy on the yankees feels insecure with another guy currently in triple A pushing him....all the while Schulman just sits quietly by, apparently afraid to speak.

And in watching this, I thought how incredibly absurd is this? We have two women in analyst roles(not play by play roles) who have never played the sport yammering on....what the hell is going on?

(1) "Jessica Ofelia Mendoza (born November 11, 1980) is an American
current sports broadcaster for ESPN and former collegiate 4-time First
Team All-American, two-time medal winning Olympian, retired pro All-Star
softball outfielder, originally from Camarillo, California. At Stanford
University Mendoza played from 1999 to 2002 in the Pac-12 Conference.
She was also a member of the United States women's national softball
team from 2004 to 2010. She won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in
Athens, and a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She played
professionally in National Pro Fastpitch and was named 2011 Player of
The Year while also currently still ranking top-10 in career records for

Okay, here you have a valid case. Isn't the point of the analyst to be somebody who actually played the game at this level?

ummm......these are both play by play guys, not in the analyst role
