There is not only no longer a separation between church and state in this country, there is also no longer the freedom not to practice a religion.

And if you read the First and see what the Founders actually have stated all the way back to the Declaration, you realize why a Conservative court actually would rule that religion has a required place in government and that there is no right not to practice. If you give to non-religion, you must give to religion -- as a function that there cannot be freedom from religion on the basis of how evangelicals view their practice of religion.

AND that the First only prohibits preference of one religion over another, the establishment of a state religion, and actions against the free exercise of religion.

since Rabbis are protesting anti-abortion laws then abortion must be kept legal for religious reasons. If not then abortion would be curtailed due to one specific religion, which would then be a de facto state religion. Kind of interesting to see how it plays out.

I do believe that EVENTUALLY the Establishment Clause goes and we get our state religion.

I was born into a Catholic family and raised that way. I was a
child...nothing I could do about that. I do not practice now. I feel
that I know what I need to know about the ***Diety (tm)*** and that I am
known to the Diety. I don't see how religion is really that important.
Throughout the last 5000 years, expression of religion is approx a 50-50
proposition. It has been just as harmful as it has been good. Some
beliefs bother me more than others, but we are each of us responsible
for our own belief and I will just try to observe the Golden Rule (do
unto others...etc) and hope I receive the same treatment.

One thing I do know: That "sky father" is the only reason I haven't killed as many people as I can get my hands on before I got killed for the attempt.
