How about, instead of the repechage or whatever it's called, a 2nd place play-off between the runners-up and all the teams knocked out by the eventual winners? And then maybe a 3rd place play-off between the "runners-up" in the 2nd place play-off and all the teams that were beaten by a team that were beaten by the eventual winners? In theory, it makes more sense and is fairer. In practice, it's far less practical, that's the main disadvantage I suppose.

What happened to my suggestion for making it 2 divisions of 5 teams in the league anyway? Is that 1 of the rule changes that you didn't listen to?

The never ending Cup?...I'm not particularly fond of structures in which too many teams rest in a given week.

Yes, for the same reason above. I don't like a system with odd-numbered groups where some players get byes. I'd rather have BOTs to make up the numbers as long as everyone is active every week.
