Something about this guy (watch him coach players on YouTube) gives me a good feeling, in spite of our GM. Good luck Mike! Give us that running game (with a real RB) that keeps the ball in our possession late in the 4th quarter!

I will be very interested to see what kind of staff he can assemble, and if he retains any existing staff. I have mentioned before I am a big Gerald Alexander fan. I will, of course, be really focused on the OL coaching hire.

Wonder how this will play out given the amped up racial context due to Flo. I was surprised to learn just now that he is "biracial" and therefore considered a minority hire. So, the 49'ers will get 2 compensatory picks. I would not have guessed that based solely on the few pictures I have seen of him. He seemed a little small (5'9" and 180lbs according to Wikipedia), white and nerdy to me. Hope he can command respect in the locker room - especially when things go south.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw&t=2s

He was "offensive assistant" in Atlanta for the historic Super Bowl LI collapse against the Patriots.

At least he has a playing history as a WR at that perennial college football powerhouse, Yale. I haven't been able to find any record of his playing stats yet.

So, yeah. He's got that going for him. :)

All kidding aside, I hope he does well. I have to. This is the laundry I root for.

I'm just glad we didn't get one of the other coaches. Lots of bad
choices out there.

Hopefully, he will be good at making prime steak out of Grier's hamburger.

It was 28-3 Falcons at one point until Brady took his Clark Kent glasses off and put on his cape....Falcons didn't lose over bad offense....;)

I get that the defense surrendered 25 points in the second half and the touchdown in OT, but...

in the last 23:31 of regulation the Falcons offense produced exactly 0 points. Not only that, they gave up a sack/fumble to give the Pats a first down on the Falcons 25. Not to mention very little rushing to burn clock.

It's hard to blow a 25 point lead without the offense contributing to the collapse. One Atlanta score, even a field goal, in the 4th quarter would have sealed it.

That ATL loss was amazing, mostly because of how easy it should have
been to win. whether ATL was focused on scoring more or not, priority
#1 was running the clock. Nope, not for Ryan. He'd call the snap with
10-12 sec on the play clock. 8-10 plays would have eaten up a minute,
long enough for NE to tie the game.
