They have fine-grained black and white, but nothing like Tech Pan was. There are a couple films kind of like it now, one from Rollei and one from this company, but you can't buy it in N. America yet.

no worries. nobody would buy it anyway.

one major reason is because digital outperforms it as well as being
much cheaper and more convenient.

not just practically. it's completely useless.

at best, you're stuck with bright sun and a fast lens, unless you also
want to carry a tripod and shoot a lot of still life at really slow
shutter speeds. don't even think about a cloudy afternoon.

not only that, but cameras don't even go that low for iso, which means
the built in meter won't be of any use unless it can be overridden 100%
of the time.

old cameras can't do it:
<http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Nikon_FM>
Film speeds can be set from 12 to 3200 ISO.

<http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Nikon_FE>
€ Films: 35mm, speeds ISO 12 to 4000 (manual selection)

more recent cameras even less so:
<https://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/filmcamera/slr/fm10/>
€ Film speed range of ISO 25 to 3,200

"buy our awesome film, none of your cameras support it, you're stuck
with manual exposure and the results are worse than the digital slr
you've been using for the past decade."

it sure is going to be a big seller. not.

Any second hand value in those old film cameras?

to collectors, they are. some of them are rare and quite valuable,
especially if they're in very good condition. on the other hand, others
are not worth much at all.

to be used for taking photos, no way. even a cheap digicam will produce
better results for less money and with a lot less hassle. heck, even
modern cellphone cameras can do better in many cases.

Ugly junk plastic ones from the 1980s, not so much, about $5/each. However, a 1970s Nikon FM2 will set you back $200. An Olympus OM-3 with its rare original f/2.8 zoom, $2000.00.
Common Olympus OM=1's around $100.00. But you can buy a slew of good 35mm film cameras and 50mm f/1.8 prime lenses for $50.00. A cheap way to try film, if you've never done it.
Film market has grown from 2010 though it's probably only worth a couple hundred million $ whereas digital camera sales have declined 87%, having been replaced by phones.

I have a few Contax SLR/lens/old Nikons etc. Voigtlander (Japanese
knockoff). Probably not worth the trouble eBaying them?

Also two Nikon rangefinders with 50mm lens.

Not worth eBay; just ship them to me (at my expense) instead.

In fact, Nikon and Voigtlander rangefinder cameras are almost the
poster child of collectible film cameras. Selected Contax and Nikon
stuff still has some small value as well.

it might be. check closed auctions for an idea of what they sell for.

there's a book that lists the going rate for various cameras, lenses,
etc., like the kelley blue book for cars.

keh.com buys and sells used photo gear. their prices will give you an
idea of what it's worth. if you sell to them, they will obviously pay
you less than an end user because they're going to resell it, but it's
a lot easier than ebay.

if there's a photo swap meet in your area, you could sell there,
especially one aimed at collectors, versus a generic swap meet which is
mostly cheap shit.

the film market might have grown, but digital cameras, including phones
which include a camera, often a very good camera, grew more.

Thanks, I have bought in the film days from KEH, but shipping there
impracticable as I am on the other side of the world.

My favourite camera of all time is the Nikon F3 with motor drive.
Built like a tank, weighs a brick or two, but just kept working.

Coupled with the then current 35mm Nikkor lens.

not in miami anymore?

that's a great camera, as was the f2. the fm and fe are classics.

for me, it's probably the olympus om-4t. multi-spot metering was
absolutely amazing.

the polaroid sx-70 is also cool. it's an amazing piece of mechanical
engineering, still to this day. not so great photos though.

their newer lenses are generally better.

Using an Olympus Pen F these days, Olympus lens are so good, tossing up
whether or not to upgrade to a more reasonable size Olympus.

The FM2 was released in 1982.

I paid £150 for an FM in mint condition.

Lots of people are using film.

I have a polaroid land camera 110B unconverted not sure what film it could have taken
