Earnings are up nearly 40% from last year and they have over $100B cash on hand. The investment value decline is a tax mitigation loss, they don't actually lose anything. Go back to playing Monopoly, the real world is way over your head.

Intel might not have much more to lose but they may have the last laugh.
A 10nm fab in Chandler AZ may beat a 7nm fab at TSMC if the balloon goes up.

The problem is the current CEO's were once younger and smarter guys.
Gelsinger peaked as an engineer in his '30s with the 80486 and
transitioned to management. He didn't get any dumber in the next 30 years.

I have had a personal preference for AMD processors and the new zen
lines beat Intel's efforts but I have to applaud Gelsinger's drive to
make the fabs in AZ and NM competitive. I believe there are also ones in
the works for Ireland and Germany. Hopefully Wall Street and the bean
counters will stand behind him.

What do you mean by "CEOs"? Amazon and Microsoft for example are not private companies.

Berkshire Hathaway is a public company just like Microsoft, Amazon etc.

It is not a money management business it is a holding company that invests in other companies.

Even fund management companies make no guarantees that they won't lose money.

One year BH made 90 billion, this year they lost 40 billion , still a
net gain of 50 billion in 2 years. In reality there was not a gain or
loss to the stock holders if they did nott buy or sell the stock. It is
all just on paper (computer) untuil actual stock is bought or sold.

The government just requires the companies to put out a report every
year. BH is sitting on 100 billion in cash. Probably just waiting on
the market to hit near bottom and they will buy back into the stock.

BH gain and loss is just like my IRA and stock holdings. Nothing gained
or lost unless I take money out. I did sell some stock as a loss this
year but bought some other company stock. I will be able to deduct the
loss from the tax on the profits of other stock. So nothing is really
lost.

Berkshire Hathaway stock has gone up about 39% over the last two years.

Amazon stock has lost about 10%.

You could have bought BH stock in August 2020 and sell it now for a significant profit - many other stocks have lost value in that time.
