I saw another drone towards the end. Why didn’t you engage it?Don’t you
want to know how tough that DJI is?
Or did you sink that boat, and you already know? Were you admiring your work?
It was good to see some of the buildings on land along that stretch. It looks
like a nice place to spend some time. What was that haze at the end?
Everything else around there looked clear.

Probably a pelican, or some other bird.

Whatever it was, I don’t like the idea of having to replace $900-$1000 of drone.

I don’t go looking for barroom fights.

Just out flying.

I try to get down to Morro Bay at least once a week.

That was more than a haze, that was marine layer fog, which is a frequent occurrence along the California Central Coast.

It looks like you’re right. It comes in about 6:37 moving left right over
that roof above the outdoor dining area. It appeared to move like a drone,
but looking more closely, I guess it is a bird.

No need. We had more than enough to deal with a mix of major street, and prison gangs.

Personally, I have never been one to gravitate to bars.

Drones are being used more and more in movies and TV. Sometimes because they are cheaper than helicopters but also because they
can do things that helicopters can't, like getting withing inches of a church spire. But languid higher altitude tours of bland sites (drones are banned from most interesting ones) tend to be sleep-inducing.

Drone can definitely do things safely that no helicopter can do, without risking aircrew, and/or a costly airframe. I know several professional drone pilots who are involved in movie, TV, and commercial production using everything from consumer drones to custom built CineLifter drones using RED cameras, some of which can cost $50K-$150K.

This might give you an idea of what Jake Sloan, who is based in Alaska, and who works in movie, TV, and commercial production can do. The other interesting guy isTroy Naquin who runs Quad Standard Labs to build, and fly custom pro level drones for production work. These two guys have worked together on several commercials, and other productions.

I took a closer look, and I can confirm that the UFO is in fact a hovering gull.

My first thought was filming volcano, don;t think there's one local to me in London though.
Closest I know of is an extinct one which Edinburgh castle is built on, think that is what I heard on some TV programme

s I know several professional drone pilots who are involved in movie, TV, and commercial production using everything from consumer drones to custom built CineLifter drones using RED cameras, some of which can cost $50K-$150K.

There must be a point where it gets so expensive a helicopter becomes a viable or preferred option.
Another advantages of drones is you can have a few all filming the same thing from differant angles and keeping formation.
Wonder what they used in the recent Bond film, haven;t seen it myself.

And then there's that sport of drone racing, wouldn't mind trying that.

Lite up drones instead of fireworks would be a good idea waiting in the wings :)

Then next will be stictly come dancing with drones ....

Do you have stictly come dancing in the US , it;s very popular in the UK peak viewing on saturday evening.

Not waiting in the wings, it has already happened, years ago.

Well I know I've seen them but fireworks are still more common due to costs.
So not as mainstream as drones used for filming where helicopters were once used.
Not sure a home user could afford to bye enough drones, maybe drone clubs will happen.

I wish they stop selling fireworks to people unless they are pros with a licence.

So where's this volcano, ?
https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4038281,-0.0764919,3a,75y,76.79h,86.96t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s81f9f_6oCr7bBG_waVxt6A!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3D81f9f_6oCr7bBG_waVxt6A%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D1.075531%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192

Thing is the whole earth was pretty volcanic going back billions of years but seeing one even an extinct one isn't exactly obvious.

which is why they didn't discover it until the 1960s.

There was probabbly one below me a few kilometres (+ I'm on the 3rd floor) below my feet about 4 billion years ago.
But the trouble is I can't see it, which was my point.

If someone said to be show me a picture of an extinct volcano in the UK I wouldn't show them a picture of the Village of Warboy.

The one I find most interesting is the Giant's Causeway, but not much to see in England.

With or without a drone.

Talking of which I'd like to see a google drone map, maybe savageduck could be employed by the to cover his local area.
Would be an interesting project.
