As for relativity theory, it will stay with us forever, just like other
incomplete theories: Newton's, Maxwell's, the thermodynamics
before statistical mechanics, etc. etc.

This is a normal process in science in general and in
physics in particular. Except the old concepts, if they
are good in certain very common contexts, never go away.
You make it sound like a search for a non-classical theory
of gravity was some sort of unheard-of exception.

So spacetime will almost certainly be replaced (we talked
about it on this NG in the mid-1990s, it's nothing revelatory)
in a new theory but at the same time it will never go away
in practice, just like Newton's and Maxwell's theories
(both falsified by experiment).

It's just how science progresses. It has always worked that way.
Why do you think relativity is any different?
