Yes, looks a bit of a dust/grime-trap.

General question, not just this, but with shutter-free mirrorless
cameras, it there usually a definitive visual and/or audible (selectable
?) indication confirming that a shot (or series) has actually been taken ?

For that one, I don't know.

On my Canon EOS RP, there's a definite, if quiet, 'click' accompanied by the viewfinder/external screen 'blinking' as it refreshes. Not sure if this is the case across the range, but it would be strange if it isn't. I've never dived deep enough into the menu to see if it can be turned off. However, in the manual there is a section headed 'Shooting Quiet Scenes' that says :"Where silence is needed, you can shoot without beeps such as shutter release sounds."

Cheers,
Magani

With my MFT GX7 in electronic shutter mode, it is completely silent, but you
can enable a sound if you wish (default is enabled), and you may get a
viewfinder flash.

petapixel are basically owned by Canon. There are numerous inaccuracies
in that article in favour of Canon.

Have you held that camera?

As usual you need to hunt for anything to moan about.

The texture is likely to make it less likely to slip from your hands and
ruin all your fine lenses and the camera ...

I have cameras with similar textures and they're easily kept clean with
a very mild soapy solution on a soft cloth. Any 'harder' crud gets the
alcohol, usually with Q-tip / toothpick in deeper nooks and crannies.

As to looks, it's a tool, and it looks like a very well designed tool at
that.
