We mostly just use the little one.

What if
we describe a finite thing,
and it happens that there are infinitely-many
instances of what we describe?
[1]

Are we in Cantor's Paradise or not?
Less poetically,
what sort of objections are there to this?

[1]
For example, consider
a collection 𝐹 with a counting-order
such that
𝐹 begins at 0
and
𝐹 ends _somewhere_

A counting order of 𝐹 is
a total order such that,
for each split,
a step i,i+1 exists such that
i is last before the split, and
i+1 is first after the split.

Each collection I've described
ends at a natural number.
Each collection is finite.
There are infinitely-many such collections
with infinitely-many natural-number ends.

The Gian-Carlo Rota quote is from chapter 6 'Combinatorics' in 'Discrete Thoughts: ESSAYS ON MATHEMATICS, Science, and Philosophy' by Mark Kac, Gian-Carlo Rota, and Jacob T. Schwartz.

The quoted sentence occurs in the concluding paragraph of that chapter, on page 62. That paragraph in its entirety:

<quote>
In conclusion, we should like to caution the reader who might get the idea that combinatorial theory is limited to the study of finite sets. An infinite class of finite sets is no longer a finite set, and infinity has a way of getting into the most finite of considerations. Nowhere more than in combinatorial theory do we see the fallacy of Kronecker's well-known saying that "God created the integers; everything else id man-made." A more accurate description might be : "God created infinity, and man, unable to understand infinity, had to invent finite sets." In the ever-present interaction of finite and infinite lies the fascination of all things combinatorial.
