Yes, ink greed knows no bounds, and of course complete hypocrisy as
well.

Thanks for posting.

Does the assembled company have a view on the various "Ecotank" models
from Epson and Canon? I avoided inkjets for a long time because of
"dryup" problems, but I have a "cartridge" Brother that is OK apart from
insisting I throw away half-full cartridges. My Lexmark colour laser is
now showing signs of toner-greed so perhaps it is time for an eco-tank.

This is why lasers are sooooo much better. No dry up and CHEAP to operate. Unfortunately, wholly-unsuited to colour printing or high definition black and white.

Not sure about 'wholly unsuited' - I've printed off plenty of colour pictures
that are fine for my purposes. And still on the same set of 3rd party
cartridges after 5 years from a printer I bought SH for UKP25 (HP1025NW).

The laser printers we use don't use toners like they used to which weren't much good for photos, the ones we have now
(HP MFP E77660) use liquid ink which are so much better than the old colour lasers . I've not tried a comparision between an inkjet and a new ink laser
as I haven't access to a resonable inkjet printer. I just wish I could run such a test. Don;t have any real info on how long a print would last either
but from what I've seen they seem pretty good for most uses other than perhaps fussy photographers ;-)
But of course they aren't cheap to buy but aren't yet aimed at the home photographer.

modern ink jets are economical to operate and no longer dry up or clog.

lasers are suitable for business graphics, such as charts and graphs,
where colour accuracy is unimportant.

lasers are unsuitable for photos due to a limited gamut and difficulty
in profiling them.
