How many of those were suicides?

People think that using a gun to kill yourself is a deliberate choice, but in fact suicide is almost always a symptom of depression (which can usually be cured if you survive long enough to get treated). Having guns around means that a lot more people end up dead than if they weren't around.

Sewage Sweeper may be a special case - he's such an obnoxious creep that he won't have any friends or family to shoot.

This individual was a suicide by firearm. Saved the taxpayer a lot of money on the prosecution and imprisonment:

That's another pseudo-scientific report motivated more by politics than science.

Other problems with the yeehaw gun-culture country, anyone with
sufficient ammo (which is most everyone) can just pound rounds into your
electrical infrastructure until something pops:

<https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/05/us/power-outage-moore-county-investigation-monday/index.html>

The couple million in damage isn't the worst part, it's the 12-18 month
lead time on parts.

Couple yeehaws could take down a whole state's grid for months with a
little coordinated effort. But, let's worry about Chinese hackers and
spend a few billion defending against that instead..

Hard to believe that lead. There was a time when GE would have a lot loaded with replacements for anything within 50 miles of anyplace. GE offloaded the business to ABB.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABB

American industry is giving up getting anything done with American workers.

I have thought for many years that the whole US could be in a big mess
if the power substations were taken out. Easy to do as this proves it.
Probably very few replacements of the transfrmers and other equipment,

Being out of power means no power to charge the electric cars and no
power to pump gas. Then all the frozen food spoils in stores and homes.

The US produces very little now. Even if the equipment is made over
seas it will take several days for it to get here not counting the time
it may take them to make it if they will.
