From jlcpcb we bought 100 boards a few months ago. Cost $.63 each.

We just bought 400 more at a cost of $6.75 each. Is China getting back
at us for supporting Ukraine? What the hell?

Anyone else getting it in the A_S like this?

did you ask them why?

did you have multiple designs on the board that wasn't noticed last time?

maybe the covid restrictions mean there's less production capacity

I got a quote from them a month or so ago and found the price very reasonable. The boards were four layer, pretty much standard everything except the solder mask color, ENIG and the size was 6U Eurocard B, 160 x 233 mm and a couple more, larger sizes. The 6U board was $287.65 for 50 and the larger 233 x 280 was 50 for $441.15, or ~$5.80 and $8.80 each. At qty 400 they are $1505.52 and $2614.25 for $3.75 and $6.50 each.

You don't say how large your boards are.

Causing a 10x increase? I don't know...

Perhaps under new management? The previous batch seems too cheap.

I'm no expert on board costs, but $0.63 seems very cheap. But $6.75 does seem high. My boards are much larger and about this same price.

When I run your numbers, at qty 400, I get $289.30 or $0.72325 each. I think you've punched a wrong button. This is with all the default options. Adding ENIG gives $334.50, $0.83625 each. The higher grade TG155 material is $350.59, $0.876475 each. With 4-wire Kelvin test $400.17, $1.000425 each..

Yes, I think you need to try that quote page again.

I did not use the quote page. The costs are what my partner said he paid
when he ordered. Maybe shipping was added into what he told me. I'll
check the quote page and discuss this with him.

Thanks.

Wow! Shipping is freaking expensive, but then again, boards are heavy for the package size. 400 each of your board size is $128 by the cheapest carrier, FedEx, 4-6 days. DHL ranges up to $200! That's 50% of the price of the boards.

Still a long way from $7 per board.

Yup. Gotta look deeper into this. He was in a bind to get the boards
ASAP. Sometimes you have to move ahead and try to clean up later.
