Morro Bay was fogged in on Monday so I headed North on Hwy 1 until things cleared up.

This was the view from my DJI Air 2S.

The video quality is good and it's nice seeing something different from
the usual Morro bay.

There are no trees in the area. Is it because it's a dry area (not
enough rain)?

I thought it was time to give you something different. ;-)

That part of the coast shows a vegetation, and terrain change with rolling hills, and some areas with quite dense California Live Oak, not so much at that particular spot. Further North on that same Hwy 1 (PCH, or Pacific Coast Highway) you get to the Southern limit of the Coastal Redwood trees. In Northern California those are the giant trees found in the Redwood National Forest.

As far as lack of rain, we are going through continuing drought conditions, more so inland where I live where it is really dry. Down at the coast they benefit some from the the moisture brought by the fog, and coastal marine layer.

Thanks, Mr Duck. A very pleasant change, and brings back fond memories of doing the PCH northbound with my sons many years ago. Lots of delightful unridden waves coming in.

OT: When we got to Half Moon Bay, we had a family meeting to decide if we stayed in SFO for 4 days or go to Yosemite. Yosemite won 3-nil. :-)

Cheers,
Magani

Hwy1 from Morro Bay through to Carmel/Monterey is one of my regular quick getaway escapes.

Good decision! Yosemite wins over SFO every time for me.

I did notice the lack of trees. In the UK we're having a tentative stab at
rewilding in a few places - keeping people and other non-native (whatever that
means nowadays, but in the main sheep/cows) animals away tends to allow trees
to thrive again.

Yes good quality and it seemed better as it opened up almost full window size rather than the smaller 1/8 size of past vids.
No idea why maybe something changed somewhere between smugmug and UK .
or maybe my recent update to high sierra did it.

Watched it full screen and seemed very good.
Around the 3:00 +/- 3 secs there was a slight step up in exposure or brightnesss or something I noticed. perhaps cloud cover.
I know you can't go too high but I wonder if you could go through mist/fog transversing above and below , that would be an interesting movie.
I've noticed in the UK when there's mist/fog my stationary webcam at night makes it look like a blizzard is blowing outside
the way the IR appears to reflect off the mist. I'll try getting a movie snap of it next time.

I had no idea that the presence of sheep and/or cows was a hazard to
tree growth!

You wouldn't believe the controversy here in my neck-of-the-woods with
MAN destroying the landscape!

Who knows? The big problem with SmugMug is their limit to 3 GB file
size, and down rendering to 1080p from the original 4K, or 5.4K.

Full screen does deliver the best experience.

> Around the 3:00 +/- 3 secs there was a slight step up in exposure or

Aah! You noticed. I goofed, I started shooting at 4K 30fps, but at
1/120s because on an earlier flight I was at 4K 60fps. I only noticed
at that point in recording, and adjusted the shutter speed to 1/60s.
That was the shift you saw.

The legal limit is 400 ft AGL, and then there is the issue of losing
line of sight in fog/mist, but certainly interesting.

Worth a try.
