16:30 into the video, Angela talks about how someone was tragically murdered at the APS by an angry rejected amateur scientist in 1952.
Because of this, the APS holds a crackpot session every year at their conference where any member can present their paper, if they want.

Looked that up. A really nasty crackpot indeed.
When the offending editor turned out to be not in
he murdered a secretary instead.
Angela is wrong about the no-reject policy though,
it alreay existed, on a proposal by Luis Alvarez.
He did hold a talk, but nobody took him seriously.

He then decided to murder someone to get into the news,
and hence also his theory as the reason for the murder,
